About Jennie

Singer/songwriter Jennie Arnau serenades by night and does men’s fashion by day…

Arnau owns Men’s Luxury Showroom to keep the music playing

Jennie Arnau creates a unique blend of New York-nurtured South Carolina-born Grassroots rock.  Her original blend of Americana, Alt-Country and rock along with her bold and bittersweet voice have led more than one critic to describe her as a cross between Neil Young and Martina McBride. CHASING GIANTS, released on MRI/RED, is praised by Maxim/Rolling Stone’s Joe Levy as “her most fully realized set of songs yet.  If you care about the struggle for love and happiness - and who among us doesn’t? — This one’s for you.”

In addition to being a musician, Jennie owns Peregrine Showroom, which is home to several luxury contemporary men’s designers.  Arnau has been the fashion business a long time, having worked in the past for the likes of Helmut Lang, as well as Miu Miu and Giorgio Armani.  Peregrine showroom represents 9 clothing lines whose past and current clients include Duckie Brown, Oliver Spencer and George McCracken, which Jennie sells to high-end stores across the U.S. and around the world such as Barney’s, Bergdorf Goodman’s, LouisBoston and Liberty’s of London.

Says Jennie of the juggling of the two careers and artistic paths, “I find that one feeds into the other.  Touring for my music allows me to also visit retail stores in that market which I either currently sell to or hope to sell to.  And vice-versa, if I bring my collections on the road, I will always bring my guitar and book shows in those cities.”  For a woman who grew up in the foothills of Appalachia and has thrived in New York’s music scene and the fashion business, Jennie has long explored the union of both careers.  “I really love both.  And if for some reason I’m not feeling positively about one at a certain moment, I can look to the other for inspiration.  And luckily, when it comes to the financial aspect, the same thing happens.  One definitely feeds into the other and I’m proud to call myself a ‘working’ musician.”

In addition to touring around the US, Jennie has appeared recently at festivals including Pete Seeger’s Hudson River Revival, Wakarusa, Gathering of the Vibes, MusikFest and World Café Live.

Peregrine Showroom, based on 5th Avenue in Manhattan, also happens to be in the same building as Jennie’s record label.  “I must have looked at 50 spaces before I found my current one and it was just perfect.  The fact that MRI is in the building makes everything click.”
